I’ll show you how to take a pre-cooked ham, add a simple Dijon mustard binder, season it with my award-winning Butt Dust BBQ rub, and finish it with a sweet glaze for that perfect caramelized crust. Cooked low and slow at 225°F and finished hot for a sticky glaze, this method delivers a juicy, smoky ham every time—whether you’re using a pellet grill, smoker, or even your oven. If you’re looking for the best ham recipe, how to cook ham on a smoker, or an easy holiday ham, this one’s about to become your go-to for some real good groceries.

Directions:

1. Preheat pellet smoker to 225-250 degrees. Remove packaging from ham, including the plastic guard from bone area.

2. Rub ham with Dijon mustard and rub it all over the ham. Then, add the Butt Dust liberally on the ham getting into the slices.

3. Put ham in an aluminum pan with a rack in the bottom and put on the smoker. Smoke on pellet grill until internal temp reaches 145 degrees. After about 2 hours, check temp and start making the glaze.

4. The glaze packet we used, just add water and mix while heating up. You can do this on the griddle or on the stove. While making glaze, increase the temp of pellet grill to 350 degrees.

5. When glaze is warm, paint or pour over ham. Let go for about 20 minutes to set up the glaze and check. If you have any more glaze, add it now and let go another 20 minutes.

6. Pull ham at 140-145 internal temp and let rest 10 minutes. If you want, pour the juice from the pan over the ham. Slice and enjoy the best ham ever.

Authors note:

This ham takes about 3 hours total using the temps listed in video. Since this is already pre-cooked, you can play with the temps. If you don't want double smoked, it can be done using the oven.
