Bird Dog

You may want to switch that boring hot dog for one of these bird dogs instead! It's an interesting take on changing the hot dog up and adding a fried chicken tender instead. They were SO delicious.


4 chicken tenders

1-2 cups Buttermilk

3 tbsp Hussey's Heifer Dust

1 bag House Autry Chicken Fry

Oil for frying

3 tbsp butter

4 hot dog buns

16 sliced Pickles.

3 tbsp Dukes Mayonnaise

Hidden Valley Ranch secrete sauce Optional


1. Remove tendon from chicken tenders. Preheat griddle to medium or 350-375 degrees.


2. Put chicken tenders in a bowl and add buttermilk and a generous amount of Heifer Dust. Mix and let sit 30 minutes. Take a gallon ziplock and put whole bag of chicken fry in it.


3. Add a good amount of oil for shallow frying on the griddle then put chicken tenders in the chicken fry and coat well. Put chicken in the oil and shallow fry them for a few minutes on each side or until golden and internal temp is 160-165 degrees.


4. When chicken is almost done, put butter on the other side of griddle and put hot dog buns down in the butter to heat up and toast slightly.


5. Remove chicken to a paper towel to drain.


6. To build, add mayo to toasted bun, then add a chicken tender, 3-4 pickles and Hidden Valley Ranch secrete sauce if desired.
