Directions

  1. Start by preheating the griddle to low. Add a pan to the griddle to heat up.

  2. Season the wings with a liberal amount of Chicken Dust. Dust the wings with cornstarch and let them sit to absorb. Add some oil to the griddle and set the wings in the oil, making sure they are separated. This will help them cook more evenly.

  3. While the wings are cooking, add the Cheerwine to the pan and let it reduce. You can bump up the burner under the pan if you want to speed up the reducing process.

  4. Keep cooking and flipping the wings until the internal temperature reaches 185°F and they are nicely browned.

  5. When the Cheerwine has reduced substantially, add ketchup, hot sauce, a teaspoon of Chicken Dust, vinegar, red pepper flakes, and brown sugar. Whisk well and leave it on the griddle to reduce further. When it thickens, add butter and let it melt into the sauce.

  6. Once the wings are cooked, remove them to a bowl and pour the sauce over the top, leaving some to use as a dipping sauce. Mix well into the chicken wings and enjoy!

Why Cheerwine BBQ Sauce?

Cheerwine is a beloved Carolina classic. Its unique cherry flavor adds a delightful twist to traditional BBQ sauces. This sweet and tangy sauce perfectly complements the crispy chicken wings. Plus, using my Hungry Hussey Chicken Dust enhances the flavor even more, making these wings a must-try.

Perfect for Any Occasion

These wings are not just for game day. They are perfect for family gatherings, summer cookouts, or even a cozy night in. The ease of preparation makes them a go-to recipe for any occasion.

Tips for the Best Wings

  • Use Fresh Wings: Fresh chicken wings will always yield better results than frozen ones.

  • Don’t Crowd the Griddle: Give each wing enough space to cook evenly.

  • Monitor Temperature: Use a meat thermometer to ensure your wings are cooked through.

Serving Suggestions

Serve these wings with a side of coleslaw or potato salad for a complete meal. You can also pair them with your favorite dipping sauces for an extra kick.
