Sausage Balls with a twist

This recipe for sausage balls are the best I've had. Using one ingredient different made all the difference in the world.


1 box cheddar bay biscuit mix

1 block cream cheese , softened

1 ¼ cup shredded colby jack cheese

1 lb breakfast sausage

1 tbsp chicken powder(optional)

1 tbsp smoked beef tallow (optional)

½ tsp garlic powder

½ tsp onion powder

Honey mustard sauce:

½ cup mayonnaise

2 tbsp yellow mustard

1 tbsp Dijon mustard

2 tbsp honey

½ tbsp lemon juice


Step 1

1. Add cheddar bay biscuit mix including seasoning packet into a stand mixer. Next add cream cheese, shredded cheese, sausage, chicken powder, beef tallow if using, onion powder and garlic powder to stand mixer. Mix on low till mixed.

Step 2

2. When mixed, cover a baking sheet with foil and add oil to grease. Take a cookie scoop and scoop sausage mixture onto the baking pan. Put on the smoker or oven at 375 degrees for 10 minutes. While cooking, mix your honey mustard sauce ingredients together.

Step 3

3. Check your sausage balls for temp after 10 minutes then check every 5 minutes till internal temp reaches 200-205 degrees.

Step 4

4. Let cool off 5 minutes and enjoy.
