The Oklahoma onion smash burgers have been on a list to make on the Blackstone griddle for a long time now. These burgers were so quick and easy to make, but also darn good groceries!
Ingredients:
1/2-pound 80/20 ground chuck separated in 2oz balls
4 burger buns - I used Martins buns
2 tbsp Hussey's Heifer Dust
1 thinly sliced Vidalia onion
4 slices American cheese
2 tbsp mayonnaise
2 tbsp ketchup
12 pickle slices
Directions:
Â
1. Preheat griddle to low. Thinly slice onion and add salt. Set aside. Take hamburger and make 2 oz balls leaving them loose. Get your buns ready by adding mayonnaise to each side of the bun.
Â
2. Put your bun down cut side down to toast the buns. Toast to your liking. When toasted, remove from griddle to your cutting board.
Â
3. Add hamburger balls to the griddle, season with Heifer Dust and top each ball with 1/4 of the onions. Using parchment paper, smash each ball flat and hold for 10 seconds. When the burger starts to show crust on the edges, flip, add a little more Hussey dust and add cheese to each burger.
Â
4. Add more mayonnaise to the buns and put the top bun on top of the burger. Put ketchup on bottom bun and add pickles to the bottom bun.
Â
5. Take your burger and transfer to the bottom bun. Enjoy
