Growing up, we didn’t have the budget for fancy steaks like ribeye, filet mignon, or New York strip—but we knew how to make a sirloin steak taste incredible! This video is a tribute to my childhood, where sirloin was king in our house, especially during summer. Every Saturday, my family would fire up the grill or cast iron skillet and prepare buttery, juicy sirloin steaks with simple ingredients, yet full of bold flavors.
A Trip Down Memory Lane: Sirloin Steak
Today, I’m adding my own Hungry Hussey spin to this classic dish. I’ll be cooking up a perfectly seared sirloin steak that’s tender, juicy, and packed with flavor on my Blackstone griddle. I’ll provide tips on how to cook sirloin steak so it turns out just right, plus some tricks to make it taste as good as (or even better than) ribeye!
If you grew up enjoying sirloin steak on a budget or if you just love grilling and cooking steaks at home, this one's for you! Let me know in the comments—what was your favorite meal growing up?

Ingredients
2 lbs sirloin steak
4 Russet potatoes
1 bag broccoli florets
Avocado oil
Butter
1 tsp smoked paprika
2 tbsp Worcestershire sauce
Directions
Preparing the Potatoes
Begin by par-cooking the potatoes in a microwave. When they're nearly cooked, remove and let them cool slightly.
Cut the potatoes into wedges. Drizzle them with avocado oil, and sprinkle on some Heifer Dust and smoked paprika for seasoning. Mix well and set aside.
Preheat your griddle to medium heat.
Cooking the Steak
Generously season the steak with Heifer Dust. Once the griddle is hot, add 1-2 tablespoons of butter and some oil.
Place the potatoes cut-side down onto the griddle. Cook for about a minute or until they get a nice char. Flip the potatoes and let them cook on the other side.
Steaming the Broccoli
Place broccoli florets on the griddle in some of the potato oil. Add 1/4 to 1/2 cup of water and cover to steam the broccoli.
Final Cooking Steps
Once the potatoes and broccoli are cooked to your liking, move them to the sides of the griddle.
Turn the outside burners to low and the middle burners to high. Add about 2 tablespoons of butter and some more avocado oil to the middle of the griddle and carefully lay down the steak.
Time to Flip
Flip the steak every minute. Cook until it reaches an internal temperature of about 120 degrees Fahrenheit.
10. Add 2-3 additional tablespoons of butter and 2 tablespoons of Worcestershire sauce. Spoon the sauce over the steak while flipping it in the sauce. Continue cooking until it reaches your desired internal temperature. Remove the steak and let it rest afterwards.
Finishing Touches
11. Transfer the potatoes to a cutting board.
12. Move the broccoli to the middle of the griddle. Add a tablespoon of butter and season with Heifer Dust.
13. Mix the broccoli and drizzle with the juice of 1 lemon or lime. Mix well and then remove the broccoli to the cutting board.
Slice and Serve
14. Slice the steak and serve with the potatoes and broccoli on the side. Enjoy your delicious meal!
