How to Make the Perfect Smoked Spiral Ham with Cheerwine Glaze

Updated: Mar 28

Probably the best ham I've had in a long time thanks to the rub and the glaze we put on this ham. Use whatever favorite soda you want and I'm sure the results will be the same.

Ingredients

1 half spiral cut ham

2 tbsp Honey diijan mustard

4 tbsp BBQ rub

Glaze:

1 - 2 cup Cheerwine punch or your favorite soda.

1 cup brown sugar

1 tbsp Hussey Heifer Dust

2 tbsp BBQ rub

1 tbsp apple cider vinegar, put in at the end

Tools

Smoker

Directions

Step 1

1. Preheat smoker to 275 degrees. Remove packaging from ham including plastic protector on bone of ham. Take a sharp knife and add some slits in ham to open it up.

Step 2

2. Add dijan all over the ham then add favorite BBQ rub. Put ham face down on a rimed pan with a cookie cooling rack on top.

Step 3

3. Put ham on smoker with favorite smoking wood. Smoke till internal temp gets to 120 degrees, about an hour. While ham is cooking, make your glaze.

Step 4

4. Glaze: Preheat griddle to med. Take a pan and add glaze ingredients. Mix well and simmer and let it reduce by half, about 10-15 minutes. Move pan to corner of griddle and simmer for another 30-45 minutes. Add a tablespoon of apple cider vinegar and mix.

Step 5

5. When ham is 120 degrees baste ham with glaze liberally. If you like crunchy bits on ham, take a Grill Gun torch and torch ham until a light browning on ham. Baste the ham again with glaze. When done, around 145 degrees, remove from smoker. Separate the slices and pour rest of glaze in between slices.
